Juliette Powell
Principal: Powell International Entertainment
Juliette is the heart of the Gathering. She has spent her career
exploring the boundaries of television in a quest to transform
the medium into a force that can expand minds and enrich
lives. In addition to her time as an on-air interviewer and
TV writer/producer, Juliette has hosted events for luminaries
such as Prince Charles and Nelson Mandela. At Powell
International Entertainment (PIE, inc.), she continues to pursue
cutting-edge television production and media development
opportunities, working with such clients as Bravo, E!,
WE (Women’s Entertainment Television), as well as several
collaborations that have emerged from the Gatherings.
Astro Teller
Co-founder, Chairman and CEO: BodyMedia, Inc.
Prior to founding BodyMedia in 1999, Astro was co-founder,
Chairman and CEO of Sandbox Advanced Development, a
technology solutions company. Astro's work includes a
teaching position at Stanford University, an algorithmic
consultant at Phoenix Laser Technologies, a researcher at
Stanford's Center for Integrated Systems, and a senior
engineer at Carnegie Group Inc. Astro holds a Bachelor of
Science in computer science and a Masters of Science in
symbolic and heuristic computation from Stanford University,
as well as a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence at Carnegie Mellon
University where he was inducted as a Hertz fellow.
George Mueller
Founder and Chairman: Color Kinetics
George is a seasoned inventor and entrepreneur whose expertise lies in
recognizing emerging technologies and creating successful ventures to
realize their potential. He co-founded Color Kinetics in 1997
(NASDAQ:CLRK) and Internet Securities Incorporated, in 1994. George is
worldly traveler, recreational DJ and is passionate about kite surfing,
snowboarding and playing hockey.
John Girard
Co-founder and CEO: Clickability, Inc.
John is the Gathering's "Believer." He trusts that smart people
who see the connections between important things in a
variety of disciplines will change the world. Over the past
three years, John and four fellow Stanford alums realized
their garage-based dream and founded Clickability, with more
than 140 brand name customers like CNN, the Wall Street
Journal, and Time Magazine. John is interested in the ways
that individuals use technology to share and retain important
information. When John isn’t busy helping the world’s largest
media companies publish online more effectively, he can be
found spending time with his family, surfing, flying and
acting as a sunrise DJ for the Gathering.
